I don't grow THORNBIRD and saw it for the first time in Denver in
the Townsend garden where I didn't recognize from the multitudes of
pix I had seen, notably on the AIS Bulletin cover. I even asked if
the plant markers were correct. I was assured that this was the
THORNBIRD that had won the Dykes.
This plant looked hearty, healthy and was a very washed-out,
muddy color (IMHO)....maybe an art shade? I plan to order it next
year and see what it looks like in my rain-soaked, acid soil.
Cheers,
Ellen
