BB heights

From: "Theresa Yates" <bdyates@webwide.net>

I rescued a few pieces of Miss Scarlet out from the oldest iris bed under
the trees. I was surprised to find that Miss Scarlet and Novella were BB
plants. They were listed as having heights of 22'' and 24'' respectively.
They bloom with the heights of most IB's with flowers about the same size.
Most of my iris grow close to their listed heights but not these two.
Maybe they didn't like before noon sunlight under the trees. Will find out
when they next bloom after their move. Miss Scarlet wasn't melingering but
wasn't blooming anymore so the move was needed. Most of the plants there
are rugged and have survived all that time and are still blooming. All
except Viking Admiral and it's still there just not blooming. I wish I had
labeled or mapped that bed. It wasn't and I'll have to find out through
trail and error. I want to find it so it can be divided and I'll have that
easter egg color effect there again. Mid blues, Pink (light and deep pink
colors), Yellow and lavender bicolor of Sunset Sky, and the light blue of
Viking Admiral. That iris bed always reminded me of a bunch of easter egg
colors or a lot of different ice cream flavors. I'm eyeing the rest of the
grass in the yard for relocation but the rest of the family objects. Maybe
after the rest of the kids are grown and away from home the objections will
be quieter. I need more room just to divide the two older iris beds.
Sooner or later there will be more seedlings no longer in their pots also.
