Thank you, Carl, for reporting SUNSTRIP's rebloom in PA That is the first
report in that state, but it has been reported to rebloom in zone 6. That is
encouraging.
My QUEEN DOROTHY finally popped into bloom yesterday after having stood as a
stalk for at least a month - it was a real surprise to see it finally make it.
Weiler's SDB PLUM WINE had 2 stalks in bloom and also his AUTUMN MAPLE had
another stalk in bloom about a month after the first two. Sutton's THREE
SEASONS was just gorgeous. but my own ROSALIE FIGGE in two places has had 4
stalks for nearly a month and I wish it would hurry up and do something before
a freeze freezes it to bits!
There are at least a dozen other irises with bloomstalks that I'm waiting
for, probably in vain; MOUSE is one with another stalk after having 2 that
bloomed in early Sept. and then I moved it to its rightful place in my
alphabetized garden - and, voila, another stalk. That reminds me that years
ago I was told that rebloomers liked being moved, even to just lift them up
and then replace them. If THAT is true then my whole garden should be a riot
of rebloom - but, no -- I think my replanting (due to borer infestation) was
done too late, so that any rebloom is in spite of the move and not because of
it. Rosalie nr Baltimore (ryfigge@aol.com) zone 7 where the weather is
undecided what it wants to do. Down to freezing at night and up to even the
60s in the day.
