I think that's completely absurd logic on the part of AIS. We're supposed
to be promoting all irises, not just TBs. Obviously other irises just
aren't as important.<<<
My guess would be that other irises simply haven't had the PR that the TBs
have had and don't yet fill the niche the TBs fill.
Most new gardeners here want an iris that is easy to grow, is impressive in
the landscape, comes in a wide range of colors and patterns, blooms for a
long period, and is affordable.
If more classes of irises could fit this description, the PR wouldn't be
difficult.
