Walta, do you know for a fact that the iris Peabody College, now of
Vanderbilt University in Nashville gives/gave away is I. germanica? I've been
working with a fellow whose mother graduated in the 'thirties and he wants to
get her the iris that grew on the campus, but the only name he had for it
clearly dated from the sixties. I've been trying to find out what iris grew
on the campus in the thirties, if indeed it was a named one. Greg has some
inquiries out for me among the garden club women and I have done everything
possible including asking the alumni affairs office there, who ignored my
most eloquent and groveling e-request for information. To date we are at a
standstill despite my efforts, Mike's, and Greg's. Can you--or anyone else
listening-- confirm we are talking about I. germanica?
