Re:TB:Riverview Iris Garden

Amethyst Flame seems to do well in our area, I grew it about 10 years ago,
then tossed it and have been trying to get it back since then--and also in
the Boise area--if it is listed in Tony's catalogue--Riverview Garden--that
would mean that it will survive temps of over 100-(not like the Dallas heat
wave though) and cold temps of below 0 with wind--the garden is not
protected from the wind by trees--so anything which grows there is
hardy!!!!!!!!
I have been to their garden several times--the latest was last year during
bloom time , and would assure everyone that Tony and Irene do work very
hard in their garden and that the Iris are grown well there--
And you should see his seedling patch!!!!!!! About the only one I can
compare it to is Tom Burseen's in Dallas--which we saw at National last
year--and if you want a green Iris--Tony has it!!!!! We did Garden Judging
in his seedling patch last year--truly a delight to see so many different
ones--
As for Keith Keppel's Iris not doing well in certain areas--if your weather
is like his--mid-warm with high humidity--then KK's Iris should do well for
you--but if you are dry and not too cold winters--then try Sutton's or Tom
Burseens--
Or--talk sternly to the Iris--they seem to like that :)

Carryl in western Montana-- winter is here!!!!! Zone 3/4
