Dear John,
Thanks for the additional information. My problem was that by looking at
the photos, I was not positive that I had the irises labeled correctly. Rich
Jewel & Velvet Memory 's discriptions are similiar. Also, the plants,
growing beside a bog, are much taller than 32 " , more like 40 " or 45". I
need to measure them next year to be sure. They are twice as tall as Black
Gamecock.
I put Black Gamecock into the LA bed last year & it had 10 increases.
She also bloomed. But I moved her to another bed because the other 3 LA's
were overpowering her. I put her with Dorothy K Williamson, which was also
planted last year & increased very rapidly also. They are about the same size
stalk & flat style. Can't wait to see them together next year.
Joyful Charm is a lighter pink, & therefore distinct from the other two.
So hopefully, when they bloom next year, I will be able to separate the
3; however criss-crossed they are in the bed. They have rhizomes which are 2
feet long. Unbelievable.
Annette Milch Happy in Lexington with a glorious cool crisp night.
