This has been a very bad year for rebloom. We thought the extra rain, after
two years of drought, would have helped, but rebloom was better during the
hot, dry years. FOREVER BLUE finally sent up a stalk and bloomed while we
were in Cancun for a week. When we returned, there was one bloom on BABY
BLESSED. What have been blooming for several weeks are lined out plants of a
seedling we registered in 1999 as SHOUT. It is an SDB from a cross of ICE
AND INDIGO by SILK AND VELVET. SILK AND VELVET is the only iris we have
registered as a rebloomer, but it hasn't shown any stalks yet this year. One
other SDB has a bud showing color. It is PICASSO PRINT which is a sibling to
SILK AND VELVET. Our most reliable rebloomer, VIOLET RETURNS, has not
rebloomed this year. We only grow rebloomers at our public garden in
Cleveland, Ohio, Zone 6.
