CULT: Fan Size and Potential for Flowering Next Year

Greetings,
Awhile back I remember reading a listing regarding how an iris club sorted
irises prior to a sale. I believe they indicated that they sorted them on the
number of blades in a fan. Further I believe it indicated that if the fan had 5
or more blades in the fan it would likely flower the next year.
Does anyone else have information or criteria that they use to predict
flowering potential for the following year?
