Re: RE: Cult: Late moving-discenting opinion

About moving irises in a so-called off-season! Last Spring I took the bull
by the horns and moved part of my rebloomer bed that I wanted to move last
fall, and never got it done! SO I moved them in early April, trying to keep
the dirt on, This move was not more than 6 feet and they weren't exposed
more than a possible 10 minutes. A few actually sent up bloomstalks and
lived, but I regret to say that I lost a lot of my alphabet A to F (I plant
alphabetically)--- and you know that includes all those whose names begin
with AUTUMN, so I was really devastated and I don't recommend that kind of
move. But usually I have found that irises can be moved any time! Perhaps I
should qualify the move by saying, that the irises were the ones closest to
my neighbor who has irises that are not given the TLC they need, so her
borers had had a good time in that bed, which undoubtedly helped the problem
with those who were not as strong-minded to withstand the onslaught! But I
would not move a whole bed at that time again --- but, who knows, left to be
borer food might have given the same results! You can't win!!!! Rosalie nr
