Hi, Donna, Queen Dorothy is a TB. violet plic and a good Rebloomer It was
hybridized by Earl Hall (1984) and named for his wife Both lovely people and
devoted to rebloomers. The standards are white with 1/2 " mid-violet edge
and the falls are the same. Beard is yellow, its slightly ruffled and smells
sort of pretty! And it blooms just about everywhere, including Canada and
the Netherlands. AND I actually won not just a blue, but a rosette for Best
Specimen in Class at a fall regional show. (The only one I've ever won! )
Of course there wasn't too much competition at a fall show at the time (15 or
so years ago) but I was up against Lloyd Zurbrigg who had a car full of
gorgeous irises. Queen D as I remember had 3 gorgeous blooms out plus a
number of buds. I was elated! You are in the same zone that I am, I
believe, so it should do well for you.
Now you know more than you wanted to know! ! !
Hope you both are coming to the Regional in Fredericksburg next weekend.
They are fun and worthwhile. By the way I hope to be in N.C. the lst weekend
of Nov. and will be doing some ancestor hunting while there. Where are you
located? What area/city. Email that to me privately about this. Rosalie
