Hi,
I am wondering if I will need to do anything special with TB Iris I planted
in Mid Sept. I have had Iris for years, but just recently decided to get alot
of the newer named varieties. I am in Zone 7 ( I think 7b- Dallas area). I
was told by one person to mulch the iris heavily, but I have always been
afraid to mulch due to rot. I have them all planted in raised beds, and used
builders sand around the rhizome to help prevent rot. We have had alot of
rain this fall, and I worried about the rot with our heavy clay soil. The
main bed is near a fence that protects it alittle from the North wind. I am
on an acre tho, so we still get alot of wind.
What do you guys suggest? Should I mulch later in the winter, or just leave
alone? Currently all the rhizomes are doing great, with only one lose so far
from rot.
Also, where do you get Reemay? I was thinking about using it to try and save
a banana tree and some cannas that I planted around our pool.
Thanks,
Amy
PS- Have a bunch of rebloomers in pots- never got around to putting them in
the ground. I guess I will just bury the pots, think it is too late to plant
now.
