If it is not blooming, go ahead and divide it. If it is blooming, wait
for it to finish. I grow Irises in pots here, and the only way I take any
inside on a freeze night is if one has a bloom stalk on it. This past
winter, the pots were outside during temperatures as low as 12 F [-12 C] with
subfreezing temperatures for over 15 hours. I suspect the pots were totally
frozen, but the Irises were not harmed.
