Subject: CULT: suggestions

I'd like to get some suggestions from the group in planning for next year. I bought a 5.5 acre parcel in Rhode Island, USDA Zone 6, which has roughly 4 acres of wetlands. The "wetlands" are actually a forest of swamp maples with various native shrubs interspursed throughout the entire area. Our "yard" is bordered on two sides by these wetlands and gets varying degrees of shade and sun. I have used the bulk of the sunny spaces for my TB's, Sib's and some Louisiana's. I have plenty of space for irises, and others , which will tolerate dappled sun to mostly shade. There are plenty of ferns and skunk cabbage throughout the area, for those who are familiar with this terrain. Spring would deliver plenty of standing water which will be gone by mid-summer leaving the ground merely damp and spongy enough to sink into up to your knees at times. I'd appreciate feedback from anyone with knowledge and or experience with these conditions. Thanks in advance.
