Re:CULT ? Cows/seedling sales

I don't mean to prick anyone's bubble, === BUT. I was "brought up" in the
AIS iris world that it was not ethical to sell/give away seedlings that were
not worthy of introduction because you are diluting the waters, so to speak,
by foisting unworthy irises upon innocent buyers or recipients so that they
become unhappy with their results and shrug off irises for their gardens. It
is far better to let the cows eat them or the trash collector haul them off
if you don't want to include any culture problems in your compost pile. I
don't know whether this is written in stone or is just up to the integrity
of an individual to want to keep the iris world as "pure" as possible!
Guess we need to do some research on that. Our region has had tough task
masters in our training -- maybe it is only idealistic, but it makes good
sense to me to want to have everyone have GOOD irises so they are happy
enough to want more - which results in more business for those that sell the
"good" irises! (I know, some of those should never have been introduced
either ! --- but it is not on "your" conscience, if that is any
consolation.) I hope I haven't set the cat among too many pigeons to
survive the pecking! Ha!) Rosalie nr Baltimore zone 7 where we are
