Here in the warmer climates of Australia, we move bearded irises all year
round, we certainly dig and sell while bloomig. The only problem is that you
often have to include the mother rhizome as the new fan may not be big
enough to leave home. We find that they transplant best whilst actively
growing. Transplanting within 3 months of flowering does reduce the
frequency and size of bloom, but the plants recover well and are fully
established before the heat of our summer.
