I don't wish to disillusion you Margie - but the "sulfate" doesn't have
anything  to do with the bacterial killing power of Agri-mycin. The
streptomycin was treated with a mild solution of sulfuric acid to convert it
to a water soluble compound. The solubilizing agent might just as well have
been hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, etc. giving
streptomycin hydrochloride, nitrate or phosphate. The bacteriacidal action
comes from the streptomycin itself.
