Adobe .pdf files are generally the standard cross platform media. According
to the tv network news more than 45% of Americans have access to computers.
Adobe Acrobat Reader is free and is required by many programs already. This
would seem tp be the most common denominator for all users. This way you put
the Cd in, it starts AAR and you read it just like e-mail

Tab deleted text might be a little difficult to read. Hopefully a global
replacement of ( TAB ) with ( COMMA ) in the current database would ease the
pain of conversion and yield something that reads like the printed texts.

A downloadable database would be wonderful except it too could be
redistributed freely. Likewise the PDF file would have to password protected
to prevent the export of the data.

Reality Check time. Would the number of people who buy both the Cd and
printed text versions exceed the number of people who try to find a "free"
copy of the database instead of buying either? Starting with me Yes, So
disregard the previous paragraph.

Considering the number of AIS members in contrast to the number of members of
this list and then considering the number of members of this list who want a
database file, a database CD doesn't seem necessary. A downloadable file in
a common delimited file format would be great and it should be free to all
those folks who have worked so hard Making the database.

Any pictures should probably be limited to those on the AIS official website.
A couple of references to Iris - Photos and the Archives would be nice with
the proper disclaimer. Anybody Know the latin for " Let the viewer beware "?
