First, thanks Mike for the information about IB crosses.
Now I'm wondering which of these three strategies would be more
productive:
Strategy one - Use pink IB pollen on diploid MTB's.
Strategy two - Use pink BB or TB pollen on diploid MTB's (I've read
that 40% of the few resulting offspring would be tetraploid -- that
means 60% would be triploid)
Strategy three - Use pink SDB pollen on diploid MTB's.
In all three cases, if the offspring are fertile enough, you
could intercross. Otherwise, you'd have to cross to diploids again,
and then backcross or intercross the resulting seedlings. Eventually
you should be able to get the tangerine factor expressed in a diploid.
I'd appreciate any comments on these ideas, and if you don't have
comments on that subject. I'd love to just have suggestions for
pollen parents, also.
Best pollen fertile tangerine bearded pink IB's, SDB's, BB's, or
TB's; especially if it is a good rebloomer or good pollen parent of
rebloomers.
Thanks for all the help, Tom
