Thanks for the info and encouragement Gerry,
I think I've seen vague mentions of that same possibility, but I
don't remember any concrete support for the notion. It seemed to me,
that it was a sort of presumed idea until proven otherwise; since
there are no known tangerine expressing diploid species or varieties,
and tangerine beards first appeared in the tetraploid crowd -- that
tetraploidy could be a requirement for expression. And it could be,
but I'm betting that it's not. Just a hunch.
You might ask...Why would I bother, when really nice tangerine
bearded pink tetraploid MTB's are appearing?
Well it's just part of my plan for a diploid revival. I think they've
been neglected (for the most part) for too long. Also by working at
the diploid level, the odds are much better of recovering plants that
express recessive genes. I won't go into the boring numbers. Anyway,
