REB: HYB: TB: and all that, status report

Can't believe what just opened:  Double Vision!  Okay, it is only a 2-foot stalk, but it has a number of nice flowers on it.  In about 4 years, this is the first time it has ever given me anything better than a 14-inch stalk with 2 or 3 malformed flowers.  Flower looks nice, and has the color and pattern that so impressed me on the lousy blooms.  It is a fancy plicata (I can see definite dotting in the shoulder areas); but I suspect luminata genes are present as the main body of the falls has the appearance of a dark burgandy with rich spanish gold veining, rather than lines of burgandy speckles on a gold ground.  A very dark, rich flower, with no white ground at all.  Best of all, I have two candidates for an October cross.  Double Click has a stalk on the way again, as well as a seedling.  The seedling was saved from a crowded row, but is probably either an exotically patterned plicata with enormous flounces (which rebloomed before), or a streaky mauve luminata with spoons from which I have 1-inch seedlings already (looking for more height).

Other current rebloom:  Mabel Andrews, Blue Suede Shoes, Stingray, Reincarnation, Eggnog, Floorshow, Yaquina Blue (just bloomed out), Best Bet.

Lotsa' rot this season in last year's new bed.  All the mother rhizomes on Ethereal Voices have gone to join the celestial choir, and I pray that I can keep some Rippling River alive.
Afternoon Delight could be renamed "Ambrosia", as it is about half pineapple and half turning to mayonnaise.  Doesn't smell like fruit, though.  Different Design has taken a hit, but it had increased enough that it can afford it.  Poem Of Ecstasy is too nice to see getting thinned out like this, though.
