Re: my first REB: ever,

Hi Rosalie,

Yes, you're right, I am the OTHER Sterling. I got
Ziggy this summer from Superstition Gardens. A lot of
newly acquired rebloomers tend to bloom in the fall
for me then never rebloom again. I am thinking that
the same thing will happen with Ziggy. When I first
got Emma Doodle from the Spoons, it sent up a bloom
stalk in the fall. I have had it a couple of years now
and it blooms every spring but has never sent up
another fall rebloom stalk. I have a small collection
of rebloomers and none of them have consistently
rebloomed for me. On occasion, Reincarnation and
Champagne Elegance will rebloom but not consistently.
I live in a pretty mild zone and I know other
irisarians in my area have pretty consistent rebloom
stalks in their garden. I think the reason I don't is
because I am not able to give them enough sun because
of fences, trees and houses that shade my garden. They
get maybe 1/2 day sun but I bet they would do better
with more. Anyway, I don't really care anymore that
they don't rebloom, I grow them now merely to breed
with. I cross them with the aphyllas to get some vigor
(and branching) in my median seedlings.
