Rebloom in Ohio

Hi Rosalie,

We spent most of the summer and fall in New Mexico, so our irises have really
been neglected. We just returned home a few days ago from over a month away
and found our home garden full of weeds and no iris bloom. This is in
Beachwood, Ohio, zip code 44122, which we consider zone 5, and where we rarely see
rebloom.

Yesterday, however, we went to our public garden in Cleveland, Ohio, zip code
44108, which we consider zone 6 because it is near the shore of Lake Erie and
benefits from moderating breezes from the lake. And it is at a lower
elevation than our home garden. There I found a clump of Earl Hall's VIOLET RETURNS
in bloom and more blooms to come, if they don't get frozen. Next to it was a
clump of his PINK ATTRACTION which had had one bloom stalk which was past
bloom. I think it was two years ago that PINK ATTRACTION was still blooming in
mid December and I took a stalk to our iris society Christmas dinner.
