Thanks for all those interesting tidbits, Charlotte. I finally
remembered to get some mineral oil while I was in town this afternoon,
so can get back to playing. (Finally ran out of rancid safflower oil.)
I squashed up a cherry tomato and was surprised to see that the oil
soluble pigment is orange, not red! ?? The tomato was very red.
If it's lycopene, is it supposed to look orange or red? Held up to the
light, the color is identical to that of Dial liquid soap, apricot
orange.
Very pretty, to be sure, but certainly not red.
