Your growing season is probably about a month shorter than here in central
Indiana, so you would probably get better results with ones that either
repeat (bloom again about a month after spring bloom) or rebloom early or
multiple-rebloom here. Since you must have cooler summers than here, it
might be easier to keep them growing, without rotting, by pushing them
judiciously with a diluted, low-nitrogen foliar feed or a time-release
fertilizer.
My rebloom report is in the archives each year in late November. The earlier
ones would be a good bet. The Reblooming Iris Society (RIS) has a website,
listed under Links on the AIS webpage. If you join RIS, you'll get spring
and
fall issues jam-packed with info from all over. Back in 2002, RIS listed 75
that
rebloomed in Z4, so you do have choices. Lots more since then.
Here's a very short list of ones that rebloom north of here:
Again And Again TB - Just try and stop it!
Champagne Encore IB - well behaved here
Fast Forward IB - diabolical plot to take over the whole garden
Precious Little Pink IB- reset half every year for best performance
Restraining myself from adding about 20 more. These are early and rebloom
aggressively.
Shopping is fun - enjoy!
