Spoke too soon. One of its siblings is sending up a stalk today. So, it will have company. -- Griff

At the moment, I have a seedling just about to open in its maiden bloom (if today's forecast rain doesn't zap it). It is from KINDLE A FLAME X CHERRY GLEN, neither of which is a rebloomer; however, CHERRY GLEN has TWICE TOLD as a parent, and KAF has SPIRIT OF MEMPHIS as a grandparent. I was not looking for a rebloomer from this cross. The seedling about to bloom is a first-year plant (i.e., set out in 2006) and none of its 19 siblings has sent up a stalk, which is the norm here. So, we see that the known rebloom heritage on one side is one generation back, and on the other side is two generations back. -- Griff----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Mann" <lmann@lock-net.com>To: <iris@hort.net> Sent: Tuesday, October 23, 2007 7:32 AM Subject: [iris] Re: HYB: Rebloom inheritanceFrancelle, seems like I've seen that in several rebloom pedigrees I've searched, but unfortunately, can't think of a single example at the moment.<That is, do nonreblooming seedlings from reblooming parents carry genes thatmight give rebloomers if crossed with other rebloomers?>Betty, how many non-reblooming seedlings did you have in each of those crosses? Just wondering what the ratios were, more or less. Of course that doesn't count all the non-survivors...<Love Lines is from Latest Style X Glistening Icicle. It had everythinggoing for it except rebloom. When crossed with the pollen of Clarence itproduced over half a dozen rebloomers. Sincerely Yours is (Bridge In time x (Feed Back x Titan's Glory.) Thepollen seedling did not rebloom for me. The Feed Back x Titan's Glory was a rather large cross with several good seedlings but no rebloom. When crossed by Star Gate it produced one reliable rebloomer. It's darker than either parent.>-- Linda Mann east Tennessee USA zone 7/8 East Tennessee Iris Society <http://www.DiscoverET.org/etis> Region 7, Kentucky-Tennessee <http://www.aisregion7.org> American Iris Society web site <http://www.irises.org> talk archives: <http://www.hort.net/lists/iris-talk/> photos archives: <http://www.hort.net/lists/iris-photos/> online R&I <http://www.irisregister.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS--------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS
