The flounces would be same colour as the tissue they originate from. As they originate from falls, they have same colour as falls.

Yes they are coming from beard, but the beard is modified petal tissue of falls. As a beard they are under control of tissue identity as beard. When they become petaloids, they are under control of petal genetics.

Subject: [iris] [HYB] Flounces

Ibm interested in breeding for flounces, especially flounces of a different color than the primary flower color if possible. Ibm not even sure if it is possible given that the flounce is commonly a petaloid of the same tissue type as the primary petals but coming out of what would be the beard. Still, if we can have standards & falls of different colors perhaps it might be possible to
develop a flounce of a different color.

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of spaceage iris that consistently show a flounce? Can any of you give suggestions for potential breeding stock for
flounces?

I have tried to join the spaceage robin but there does not seem to be any
activity there in quite some time.

Which hybridizers are working on spaceage iris these days?

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.
