New Jersey Big Event and C&P Iris Society Fall Show

The annual C&P Iris Society Fall Show was successfully held at Beltsville, MD
today (Sat), and winner of Best Specimen iris was WAVES OF GRAIN (Byers 94),
exhibited by Ginny Spoon of Cross Junctions, VA. Best Seedling was a really
different pink with raspberry highlights in the falls bred by Don Spoon.
There were ten exhibitors and more than 50 entries...lots of seedlings, too.
Judges were the Griners of NJ. Silver Medal was won by Ginny Spoon, Bronze
Medal by Gladys Lee.

Joe Griner, RVP of Region 19 AIS (New Jersey and Staten Island), asked me to
invite everyone on the list to the big Region 19 Fall Meeting event on Nov 9
and 10 at Princeton Marriott Forrestal Village in Princeton, NJ. Highlight
of this meeting will Judges Training on rebloomers, and two programs by Terry
Aitken, owner of Salmon Greek Iris Gardens, and Editor of the AIS Bulletin.
Both of Terry's programs will be judge's training with great slides. The
subjects: Hybridizing: Across the Spectrum of Iris and Cultural Practices for
a Diversity of Iris. Cost is $20...send to, or obtain more information from:
Mary Townsend, 62 Elizabeth St, Pemberton, NJ 08068.

Cheers, Clarence Mahan in VA
