Enid as Ruth Simmons told you (NCIS) would be the closest if you are free for
their Sunday afternoon meetings. It's a good group. If you're loose on
Monday's the Norman Area Iris Society (NAIS) meets every 4th Monday at the
Norman Public Library. They have a lot of fun & always play Iris Bingo at
their Ice Cream Socials in August. If you haven't played Iris bingo then you
have not truly lived!

If you're not busy on Thursday nights, the 2nd Thursdays are the TAIS Tulsa
meetings & they are great. If you are free on Friday nights, the 1st Friday's
(as in tomorrow 10-2-98) are the Oklahoma Iris Society meetings here in OKC &
you are MORE than welcome to come on down! It will start at 7pm and our
esteemed PERRY DYER will be delivering the program. He is one of the greats &
we're lucky to have him with us here locally! He's done many intros including
the infamous SERENITY PRAYER (an SDB) along with SILENT STRINGS, AZTEC SUN &
many others... Although Perry is only 43 years old, he's been into irises &
hybridizing since God was a Choirboy. Incredibly talented he's still into
irises in a big way but now also VERY into daylilies! :-)

All OKC meetings are held at Will Rogers Garden Center at 3400 NW 36th in OKC.
That's the roundish building on the SW corner of NW 36th Street & I-44. The
SOONER STATE Iris Society meets every 4th Friday (as in last week when we had
George Sutton from California) at the same location. It is the biggest group
in the state & the one who will be playing host to the AIS National Convention
May 4th to 8th, 1999. The registration fee has been set at a tremendously
economical price of $125.00! (Very low for a Natl') & you should make plans
not only to attend but to come get involved with us! We would love to have
you!

At this moment we do not have a REB society but both OKC groups get involved
with
REB's more than most. Probably next year I would imagine we will try another
joint REB show. We DO just about have an iris society on every corner, unlike
Oklahoma Daylilydom which only has 3 local societies :-(( There are several
others I did not mention but if you are interested I have that info floating
around somewhere up in my brain also.

For your soils, I would try HUMORE, it's great & might solve your problem. If
you come to any of these meetings, just about any of us can tell you all about
it.

These invitations go out to any of the rest of you who are interested...
We're starting to get a little bit excited about the upcoming iris season here
& welcome you all!
