In a message dated 98-10-03 11:45:41 EDT, you write:
<< The heat wave and drought in Waco, TX is finally over, so I plan to move
my
potted iris (potted per Walter Moores' instructions a couple of months ago)
to a raised bed this weekend. >>
Lew, I'm going to let others who know that climate and dirt deal with the
locale-specific aspects of the move, but I'm want to remind you that when you
turn those plants out of their pots you should be very careful not to knock
the growing tips off the roots. The yellow ends are where the growth is
happening and you will set the plants back if you damage them. Also make sure
you set them high enough so when they settle the rhizomes are not in a
depression.
