Glen, if he has a patio, he could get a childs wading pool and "plant" them
in there.
I have grown many an iris in one, until I could find space for them. Some
times
for a couple of years. Or he could clean them up well, cut the leaves back
to about
6 inches and store them in a very cool place. Manys the time I have found a
piece
of rhyzome laying in the garage when I'm getting stuff out for spring. I
just stuck
it in the ground and it grew. Not the best way to handle the little dears,
but it worked.
