I can make umlauts with my American keyboard. See?

This should work, unless onelist knocks the dots off the u's. I just sent
myself a test message, and the dots came through.

I have a Macintosh, which may matter. I hold down "option" while typing u,
then let up the option key and type u again.

I can also do the French accents.
