Dear Celia,
The Dallas Arboretum has had two large beds of iris donated to the by the
Iris Society of Dallas for a number of years. These beds contained only tall
bearded and median iris. There was also an area of LA iris donated by Marie
Caillet. Dr. Weiler donated a collection of reblooming irises to the garden
several years ago when he closed Rialto Gardens. We were already growing
several of Walter Moores' rebloomers and they were very popular with the
public, most of whom didn't know there was such a thing
Because the Convention Garden was planned for the same location, all the
older iris were dug and sold. The rebloomers were dispersed around the Arb.
to perennial beds in other areas. The Arboretum is hoping to be able to keep
some of the display iris after the convention so that they will again have a
collection.
