Hi listers,
Taking a walk along my winding front path, to the right the house is
covered in creamy white Banksia rose, 10' high. An 8' deep border is
backed by Lilac, penstemmon, viburnum, & spirea in bloom. Dark green
buddleias add lushness. To our left a 4' border, winds around to the
arbour (which will one day be covered in wisteria)
The irises are interspersed with deep purple lavenders, dianthus and
penstemons, mostly in shades of blue, mauve, and white, and the over all
effect is a lovely blend of blues and whites against a green background.
The occassional apricot or red adding to the charm.
SDB's GOSH, STORMY CIRCLE, and LITTLE LOUIE, are almost finished, as is
the TB WEDDING VOW. IB's MAGIC CHILD & LONGING are in peak bloom, as are
TB's WITCHING, ELECTRIQUE, SILKDEGREES, DECOLLETAGE, BEYOND, MOUNTAIN
VIOLET. This morning SKY HOOKS, and I. tectorum opened. CELCIUS, TALK, &
GOSH have large seed pods developing already.
The garden continues past the arbour, expanding into a larger bed, with
yellow and brown toned plants. Here CHOCOLATE VANILLA, AZTEC BURST, &
AURA LIGHT (what a lovely iris!) are in full bloom. At the other end of
the garden the 'Yellow and Blue' garden (Iris, salvias, euphorbias, etc)
has a huge clump of YES (11 stalks in bloom) and a smaller clump of
CATALYST.
At the rear of the house MARY FRANCES, POINT IN TIME & the lovely
STORYLINE are blooming, and some SDB's have bloomed later in this
slightly different microclimate.
Many more iris are in bud, promising a good display for some time yet.
I hope you have enjoyed the walk, come again soon, cheers - Jan Clark
