Paul,
All of the above (ex. I. thunbergii) are listed in the index of "A Guide to
Species Iris" published by the BIS. It would be a very valuable reference for
you if you are going to spend the time growing them. (BTW I think it is
mandschurica not mandshurica).
Neither WOI, Species Guide or Hortus III mention a thunbergii. The only "Th"
mentioned is Thompsonii. Perhaps someone more erudite than I can help with
that one. Anyway Species Guide would provide you with a lot of information.

I am pretty sure there is mention of germinating Junos in the archives, but
didn't check specifically. I also think there has been a discussion about a
SIGNA guide to germinating seeds. Sorry, mind is foggy this morning.
