Hi. I live in East Peoria, Il. Last year I planted quite a number of iris in
October. Some in the garden, and some in pots in the basement. Most of those
planted outside bit the dust. They simply never set roots and evaporated
into powder. Those grown inside did quite well. The only problem I had was
with little bugs. Maybe an aphid or something. I could never really tell
what it was. I had to spray with soapy water and wash them off to get rid of
them. It was kind of a battle. Don't know where the little creatures came
from. I transplanted them outside in mid season. None bloomed but they did
put on additions. They are doing quite well now and I imagine they will bloom
next year. I would not put any more outside this late.
