hmmm   vaguely remember those things from when I lived in the land of ice
and snow (most of my life, actually).  Usually can't find the snow shovel if/when
it snows here on the west coast in comfortable zone 8.  No snow at all last winter.

    Up here in Northern Ontario we refer to that bar as an ice spud just like the potato, funny how the same thing has a different name depending on were your from.
     I know were your coming from about retirement, l had my days of working outside in 20 and 30 and the odd time 35 to 40 below fighting fires, but now when the winds blow and the snow piles up, we'll worry about it to-morrow,
