I'm sorry to hear this Paul. I was not planning on showing in Melb. on
Sunday, but those lovely show stems I had last week are just rags and
tatters now. The larger buds are opening now and starting to look, and
I'm getting around to removing the droopy flowers. Some seed pods have
been hit hard by the frost, others in more protected spots are OK.
The frost here is not really unseasonal. We get a 'black frost' or two
here almost every year, in the last week of October, and the local rule
is 'Never plant tomatoes before Melbourne Cup day'.
I haven't heard how this has effected the local apple industry.
BTW, Dusky Challenger, and Wish Waltz, two of the rz's you sent in
autumn, are very close to opening.
Cheers, Jan Clark
