I thought I would share this experience with you. It was give an example
of how bad they can be. That was at there worst
I have had borers since 1992 and probably before that I didn't know about.
I still have them. Control is the solution elimination is a unreal goal.
The only sure way is to eliminate there food. NO WAY got to have Iris. I
have never lost a iris from borers. I had Pallandil Varegata 5 years before
I ever saw it bloom. It must be ice-cream to them. It has bloomed three
years in a row now. I have learned Control.
What we worry about is when they attack one and it is the only rhizome of
one cultivar that we have. If it is infested the iris probably not bloom
next year, we will still get increases.
I would guess we loose a lot more irises from some form of rot.
They are a really tough plant. It is unbelievable what abuse they will
take and still come up fighting. Looking good while they win.
