RE:CULT: scorch

From: "judy eckhoff" <judye@ourtownusa.net>

Here in the midwest we do have cases of scorch. Usually in the spring but I
have had it happen during the summer. If I notice it in an established
clump, the affected part is dug up and thrown away. It will spread to the
remaing clump if not removed. I have saved iris (ELEANOR ROOSEVELT) from
scorch by digging it up, letting it dry in the sun for a few days, then
replanting it deeper than usual (about 2''). New growth didn't appear for
months, but I did save my iris. This has worked for others in this area, so
I guess it's worth trying. Now that I know about potting iris, I will try
potting the sick rhizome next time.
