RE: CULT: FANCY WOMAN

From: "Chris Hollinshead" <cris@netcom.ca>

Interesting mention of FANCY WOMAN in the below posting. From my current
experience, I would class FANCY WOMAN in the poor vigor category too. After
acquiring it in early August, I potted it along with many other TB iris to
start them growing with a view to plant out in the more or less permanent
garden spot later. (usually after a month when well rooted)

I had reported on the lack of growth earlier on this particular iris. Well
the update is as of today still NO sign of root growth on this iris rhizome
at all! Nada, zero.... almost two months from potting date. ridiculously
slow. Rhizome just sits there doing nothing., no rot either. Surprising, as
I obtained it from an iris sale (WNYIS sale) held in upstate NY. (Buffalo)
and the rhizome was quite a good size. I logically figured that if it grows
there it should do fine in my very similar climatic location.

Ready to just jam it into a garden spot to let it overwinter and sink or
swim. Too bad, as I really liked the photos of the bloom on this one. Maybe
I am just unlucky with this iris rhizome. Probably does not like me...

Everything else doing well and happily growing planted out in the garden
I'd like to hear of any other growing experiences with this iris. Make sure
to mention your location as I am sure it has something to do with the
performance with this and other irises.
