Re: Re: REB: My first Seedling

From: Wjobe@aol.com

Dana,
We have our first seedlings blooming, too! Except we have cucumber beetles
eating ours!! We collected a nice plump seed pod off of Peach Jam while we
were still in Omaha. We planted them that fall and in the Spring we had 15
seedlings.
I potted them up to bring with us and planted them last July (1998) ,when we
moved
here. So far, 3 have bloomed and 3 more are sending up bloomstalks. So far,
the
best one is a white with a brush of gold on the shoulders, red beard and a
hint of
blue along the edge of the falls. The first stalks blooms were bunched on
all of them.
I'm hoping it was because of the 100 degree temps we had when they started
blooming in July and they will do better in the spring.. I am anxiously
awaiting one that is showing color now. It looks like it might be black!!
Wednesday, I gave a program to a local garden club on iris and took a large
vase
of bloomstalks with me. It blew their minds, they had never even heard about
rebloomers!! Well, I see I have a lot of work ahead of me, but we are
starting an
iris society here and hope to get a good group going to "spread the word
about iris"!!!
