Hi Debbie and Earnie!!
Thanks for the good wishes! Yes, we are excited to finally have an iris
society here in Owensboro. Our new members seem to be really
excited, too! One of our new members is on the board for the Botanical
Garden here in Owns. He asked Wayne and I to serve on it too. We said we
would. They have a small planting of iris and we thought it would be
a great project for the club to take it under our wing. Also a good learning
tool for new irisarians! It didn't hurt that we happened to have about 20
iris clumps in bloom in the yard when they came for the meeting. We
had a tour before we got started. They all want rebloomers, now!
We even talked about flower shows. There are three garden clubs and a rose
society in Owns. They told me there has NEVER been a flower show here!!! And
some of these people have lived here all their lives.
One of the garden clubs was started in 1926!!! So we will get that fixed!!
IN fact, after we get everyone growing rebloomers, we will have fall shows,
too. I can hardly wait!!
