I just had that experience and lost about 300 prized plants. We
moved last Jan. We DID have a written contract that we would
be able to return and dig them until May 31. However, the present
owner changed her mind and decided to bring a lawsuit against us
because the furnace "broke" in March. She refused to allow me
and my friend on the property without her lawyer being present.
In a nutshell, we prevailed in the legal action but I lost my
flowers...even my seedlings. :(((
I will never move in the winter again. ;)
I agree with John and Diana about the SIBS and their planting
time - they definitely would not make it in this Zone 3 and I
think even if they were potted and put in the ground. Our ground
is starting to freeze up and we have had some intermittent snow
and more is forecast tomorrow. We are digging up and amending
two more large borders today.
Cheers,
Ellen
p.s. We drove our old house three times in June and the Siberians
were in full and gorgeous bloom along with peonies and
and other lesser irises such as TBs, etc....
:)
