When we lived in Houston, everyone had agapanthus!! One thing that
grew well and was winter hardy was Amaryllis . My bulbs were huge after four
years!!! In fact, two were too big to even pot up, so I left them.
Crinum lilys did well there too. The plant got very large so if you plant them
give them lots of space. Impatients reseeded and came back every
year and got three foot tall in some places. People thought they were
shrubs!
