I am an autodidact as far as biology is concerned, so correct me if I am
wrong, but more recently hybridized Iris do not contain different genes
(except for a possible rare mutation) but different combinations. The array
of possible genes is there in the gene pool, and it would seem to me that
there is every reason, including good ones, for those who are interested to
go back to sources.
I would appreciate Bill Shear's comments on this issue.
