In constructing acronyms one usually omits the minor grammatical particles.
Thus "Federal Bureau of Investigation" is abbreviated "FBI", not "FBOI" and
"Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization" is
abbreviated "CSIRO", not "CSAIRO". I would acronymize "Societe pour l' Iris
Retro" as SIR, ma'am.
