I heard a promotional tape once sent by a liquid vitamin company . This guy
who was on wild kingdom for Prudential Insurance with Merlin Perkins started
life on a farm went to agriculture school then became a vet then a people MD.
He says that farm animals have to be healthy because it is not cost effective
to do hip replacements on pigs or cows to enable them to mate and produce
more etc.... So farmers have to take good care of livestock. Get this since
1950s they all knew that ulcers were caused by a bacteri called H. pylori
bacter. but medical docs still had people on bland food and milk and other
meds to deal with symptoms when farmers dosed with Flagys to get rid of that
bacteri as people MDs do now. Also that there was a agriculture dept report
in 1935 that said we are depleteing the soil and that nutrional value of
veggies is decreased. Lots of other stuff in the tape about zinc defeiences
give you gray hair. ETC thanks for the reminder guess i need to get back
on those vitamins since brocoli is practically worthless nutrition at this
point.
The other gist was that most animals die of a nutrition related problem. lack
of calcium makes weak bones which cause hip fracture which then begets
pnumonia and death. not necessarily in that order but you get the point.
Mom was right you are what you eat.
