I ordered Iris rhizomes from a better known California garden this
year. When they arrived I planted them the next morning along
with 'mart' rhizomes. To my surprise the mail order rhizomes lost
all their fans and are struggling to grow. I might lose 3 or 4 out
of eleven ordered. Which I do not consider good odds. I contacted
the company and discribed my problem. They responded by saying that
I could get replacements with next years order. I most likey will
not reorder from this company. I the planted 'Mart' rhizomes in the
row next to the mail order rhisomes, the mart rhizomes are doing a
lot better and did not lose their fans. My best guess is that the
mail order rhizomes may not have been dry enough before shipment,
along with climate changes between the west coast to the east coast.
I'm disappointed to think that I would have to order again to get
replacements.
