What a difference a week makes.
I've just got back from a week in Perth. Before I went, things were cold and soggy and just starting to dry out a little after 3"(75mm) of rain in one week.
I got back to humid weather and upper 20sC and everything is going mad.
The dwarfs which were starting to bud up as I left are popping out all over the place. The tall beared stems are growing several inches a day and there's even stems coming on my La. The first of my new batch of seedlings that geminated last year are heading up, I'm getting terribly excited. Fortunately I don't have to go away again until mid Nov, by when all of the seedings should have finished.
One iris that surprises me is Avenelle (white median), we've got masses of it and we tend not to always appreciate it, but when it pops out, it is always so consistant and neat that I like it all over again.
The gardens open to the public, next week, and so it's nose down and madly weeding. Fortunately is easy weeding now, and then on with the pea straw for the final touch.
All the tulips and daffodils are in full bloom. I partic love pink and cream daffodils, my favorites are Palmeres (ruffled split corona) and Accent (bright pink trumpet), but they're all nice .
I wish there was enought money in irises, so I could work in the garden full time.
